Our previous update on Open Collective was in 2022, so we think it is time to reintroduce ourselves! After SWC’s 2021-22 strike concluded our collective went dormant for some time; but in the spring of 2024, as Columbia’s repression and harassment of student workers became more extreme, it was apparent that many members of our community could use the support of a mutual aid fund. We relaunched as a mutual aid fund with a wider scope than the previous hardship fund, with the goal to support any student workers at Columbia in need of financial (or other) assistance. Over the course of the last year, this type of aid has become even more necessary, as student workers at Columbia face increasing financial precarity, harassment, and uncertainty. 

This fund is run by a collection of volunteers, all friends of SWC. Your support allows us to meet the needs of all members of our community at a time when there is really a lot of need; we can’t thank our donors enough.
