About
Suburban Solidarity Network is a mutual aid network run completely by volunteers in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We are not a charity organization but a collection of neighbors who believe in sharing our resources, skills, and strengths to benefit our community. No individual is without vulnerability, nor is anyone without capability; therefore we seek to connect our neighbors in an effort to share our everyday burdens and lift each other up.
We believe mutual aid to be one strategy that works within a larger movement to dismantle capitalism, white supremacy, and heteropatriarchy. Our mutual aid efforts attempt to address the multiple crises that those in our community suffer from, doing what the government cannot or will not.

We intend to disrupt the suburban, colonial ideas that community ends with the nuclear family and individual home. We wish to radicalize and provide care for the Northern suburbs (land stolen from Kickapoo, Peoria, Potawatomi, Miami, and Sioux peoples) through advocacy, direct action, and community education.
