Maplewood, New Jersey – March 24, 2024 – Support Inclusion in Tech (SiNC), an initiative dedicated to promoting inclusivity within the WordPress community, is thrilled to announce its first donation of $1,100 from Jeff Paul. The donation, received on February 28, 2024, was used to cover the hotel and flight of an underrepresented speaker who is also a WordPress core team contributor. The speaker, who requested anonymity, received $1,067.80 USD on March 8, 2024. 

“We are incredibly grateful for Jeff’s generous contribution,” says Winstina Hughes, founder of Support Inclusion in Tech. “This first donation is a significant milestone, demonstrating the growing commitment to creating more diverse and inclusive WordPress programming.” 

SiNC is fundraising exclusively with Open Collective, a crowdfunding platform designed for grassroots movements and open-source projects. Open Collective allows initiatives like SiNC to raise funds flexibly and transparently through recurring subscriptions or one-time donations. Payments are processed through Stripe. A $32.20 fee was paid to Stripe to process this donation.

SiNC's financial support helps mitigate costs associated with attending and speaking at WordCamps. By covering travel and accommodation, SiNC empowers a wider range of voices to share their expertise within the WordPress community.
