Educating a modern-day society through holistic and traditional Māori practices that empower and enhance the wellbeing of our people

About

TeAwhiorangi Ltd is a social enterprise, owned by two Māori wāhine who whakapapa to Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga and Tainui.  The intention and mission of TeAwhiorangi is to "educate a modern-day society through holistic and traditional Māori practices that empower and enhance the wellbeing of our people".

TeAwhiorangi are the content creators and deliverers of Te Oranga Pūmanawa, a rangatahi kaupapa that is based in Marewa, Napier.  We have a strong connection to the Marewa and Maraenui communities and we engage with rangatahi who are impacted by drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, gang affiliations, high unemployment, housing and poor mental health.

We work hard in the community to inspire change for rangatahi who are impacted by the negative activities and realities of their day-to-day life.  Our Te Oranga Pūmanawa (TOP) kaupapa provides locally driven, transformational solutions towards increasing the health and wellbeing of rangatahi.  The success of our kaupapa is based on "connection" because, in its broadest sense 'connection' includes connecting to the environment we live in,  the individuals that we are, our whānau we surround ourselves with and the communities we live in.

The overall purpose of TOP is to provide opportunities for rangatahi to be exposed to and learn a variety of skills, tools and resources that will assist them through the challenging times and situations they become faced with during this thing called life.

TOP delivers to enhance rangatahi through;
*Growing personal development
*Cultural connection and identity
*Building self-awareness and self-empowerment
*Rangatahi leadership and mentoring through a Tuakana/Teina approach
*Supportive and constructive relationships
*Team culture, values and principles
*Ongoing pastoral care

TOP provides a space of inspiration and encouragement for rangatahi to be able to follow their pathway without the fear of failure.  TOP kaiarahi believe in establishing and maintaining robust and reciprocating partnerships with our rangatahi, their whānau, the community, other agencies and government organisations, that all influence the success of a persons journey
