Wow! Thank you everyone who supported us by donating this #givingtuesday. Teachers for Peace started as a passion project to help a friend in Ukraine and within the first few weeks we had 900 students subscribed to our telegram group and 28 volunteer teachers worldwide. Everyone came together to volunteer their time and give free lessons to the children and women suffering from the ravages of war in Ukraine by giving them something positive and productive to focus on and above all, bringing smiles to their faces.
Nine months later, we continue. On average, we give about 24 free weekly lessons, bringing smiles to 50+ children and women in Ukraine and abroad. Sadly, over 7.8 million refugees have fled Ukraine, and an estimated 8 million people have been displaced within the country. With winter coming, these children and women need our support more than ever.
Your donation has made such a big difference to us. We set the big goal of raising €20.000 this #givingTuesday. Thanks to you and nine other donors we raised our first €1000. These first €1000 euros give us enough to pay for our Zoom account and website (which practically makes us self-sufficient) for a year! What is more, it provides us with the momentum and drives to know that this is important and that we must turn this into a genuine NGO and continue to help millions of children and women affected by the war.
