Founding Community Round

Organization: TechnoEthos C3

Raising funds to launch TechnoEthos C3, a Vancouver, B.C. technology company with the mission to align technology, resources, and relationships around human dignity, agency, and collective well-being.

About

Welcome

If you are here, you likely care about how digital systems shape our lives, just like we do.

Today, at Web Summit Vancouver, we are aiming to do two things:

1) Raise the funds needed to transition our team full-time onto the project.

2) Show that there is not only appetite for technology that centres individual and collective thriving and well-being, but that when given the opportunity to do so, people will come together to make it happen.

TechnoEthos C3 is a Community Contribution Company (C3) in Vancouver, British Columbia. We exist to advance human flourishing, dignity, and collective capacity in the design, development, governance, and use of digital technologies. We are passionate about supporting individuals and communities to understand, shape, and benefit from the digital systems that impact all of us.

What We Are Building

We are developing the TechnoEthos Ethics Engine and Dashboard (TEED), the TechnoEthos Resource Network (TERN), and Ansam.

TEED is an evaluation system and educational tool. It evaluates software products for their alignment with laws, industry best-practices, and ethical guidelines, then teaches users what to do to align with the frameworks that matter to them. Each evaluation produces a score that shows the number of aligned frameworks. Scores can be published on a public registry so that others can better understand how the products they are using aligns with the values that are important to them. TEED currently evaluates products in the EdTech vertical.

TERN is a platform for mission-driven individuals, collectives, and organizations that are building community centred and driven tech projects. It brings together a system for tracking donors, grants, with a social feed for discovering opportunities and partners. Users of TERN are able to form community connections with other TERN users. TERN supports projects that are open source and explicitly made for supporting community well-being and flourishing.

Ansam, a play on the word Ansamn which means "together" in Haitian Creole, is the umbrella that TEED and TERN are built under. Ansam is an online ecosystem where people can find apps and projects in the cities that they live in that are open source and/or explicitly centred around promoting the well-being and flourishing of every single member of their community. The ecosystem is linked together by city nodes, with Vancouver being the first anchor point.

About Our Founding Community Round

In April of 2025, TechnoEthos C3 had no name. It was an idea in McKim's head that she decided to try.

Along the way, she met people who believed in the mission. Today TechnoEthos C3 has Andy as Co-Founder & CTO, Brandon as Co-Founder & COO, worked with two rockstar ML engineers to build our prototype, Aminur Ratul and Zarreen Reza (a NeurIPS published ML researcher!), and is incorporated as a Community Contribution Company in British Columbia.

We are now looking for our Founding Community to join us in our mission to put ideas into action. By joining our Founding Community, you are helping us show that technology that respects human dignity and promotes equity is something that people not only want in the world, but will do something for.

If you give today, May 14th 2026 you will have access to:

1. Ongoing early access to all TechnoEthos C3 products
2. A fixed founding-era rate for TEED and TERN for the lifetime of the product lines
3. Access to a private VIP Discord channel for one year which where McKim will host a reading/film/video game club that explores sci-fi utopias, dystopias, and the philosophy of technology

Everyone who gives today will also have themselves or their organization highlighted on our website and apps in a special section dedicated to the Founding Community.

Each tier has it's own set of extra perks which can be seen at the bottom of the page in their description.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Beyond donating to our Founding Community Round, we are also doing intake for TEED and TERN pilots, organizations that want to integrate their frameworks into TEED and people who want to learn more about ATproto/how to build things themselves.

You can find the interest form here

If you aren't interested in any of the above, but want to support us a bit extra, please fill out the form and select the "I just want to show my support for this project." box. We will use this later as proof of traction for grant applications, social impact investor conversations, and any other relevant items.

Closing

We believe technology should be built for community, with community. Thank you taking the time to learn more about us today. If you have any questions, you can find us at A6-50 for the rest of the afternoon. If you are here because someone at Web Summit Vancouver pointed you to this page and you have clarifying questions, you can email McKim at [email protected] (this email will be deactivated on May 18th, 2026).
