Project Overview

Nourishment is a community & cultural marketing agency that connects Diverse Youth Audiences with Arts & Culture.

We design digital and physical experiences that lead to unique conversations and rich connections. We partner with British Arts & Cultural Organisations to break the norms of the cultural sector and positively impact society.

We propose the delivery of URL To IRL. This is a networking event for young professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives to connect, discuss and partake in community-building activities. This event takes place in the local area, inviting creative communities from Barking & Dagenham & the wider East London region to meet and interact with each other to foster collaboration, connection and community. This event is inexpensive with costs going to charity, catering or facilitation.

This event is catered by Jay's Kitchen, a local Barking & Dagenham based caterer, and incorporates local DJs, artwork from local artists and more. The event incorporates the skill combination workshop facilitated by Tito Mogaji, a Barking-raised creative strategist and poet who will run an activity encouraging attendees to coordinate their skills to create spontaneous business proposals or creative initiatives. This event is designed to prioritise human interaction and meaningful connection to minimise loneliness & screen-time.

We have also designed a raffle raising money for Road To Freedom - a charity supporting refugees in Sudan & Palestine with the opportunity for event participants to win prizes such as: fashion, accessories or tickets to exhibitions & theatre.

We are seeking funding of £450 to deliver this event. This will cover materials (film stock, film development) equipment, services, venue requirements and facilitator support for the evening.  The project directly supports community wellbeing and aligns with the values of the Legacy Asset Fund by promoting inclusive participation and stronger social connections.

Peer-to-Peer Participation

URL to IRL is designed to support peer-led learning and meaningful interaction among young creatives and entrepreneurs, especially from Barking & Dagenham. The event features a Skill Combination Workshop led by Barking-raised creative Tito Mogaji, encouraging participants to share skills and co-develop project ideas or community initiatives.

Local Collaboration

We are partnering with Jay’s Kitchen (B&D caterer), local DJs, artists, and a nearby East London venue to deliver the event. These partnerships promote local enterprise and reflect our commitment to strengthening inter-organisational relationships across the borough.

Accessible Community Engagement

The event is free and designed to reduce isolation and digital fatigue. Tools like name tags, conversation prompts, and a community raffle help create an open and welcoming space. Afro-Caribbean food and music further enhance the inclusive environment.

Use of Shared Assets

We will utilise equipment (film, props, decor) in line with the shared values of the Legacy Asset Network. Content from the event will be used for future outreach and to highlight the ongoing impact of community assets.

Commitment to the Network

Nourishment is committed to distributing promotional materials, sharing learnings from the event, and using Legacy Asset Fund support strictly in line with its goals: to increase participation, connection, and collaboration in Barking & Dagenham.

When

  • In the first instance, payments for repairs to gifted assets will be approved as soon as the platform becomes available. Following that, they will be approved during the first week of each month, for expenses incurred during the previous month.
  • Other expenses will be approved as soon as possible by a member of the administrator team.
  • After the administrator team has approved claims, the Social Change Nest team will process these on their next working day- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

What?

  • As members of the collective, we are responsible for making sure submitted invoices remain in line with the proposals outlined in our respective Legacy Asset Applications, or following a majority poll from at least 2/3rds of the group if funds are requested for purposes outside of the proposals outlined in corresponding Legacy Asset applications.
  • It would be helpful to the admin team if each invoice is identified with the asset & purpose associated as part of the description.
  • Everyone will take individual responsibility for being aware of their own benefits implications when submitting an invoice and declare work appropriately for tax reasons.
  • Invoices and receipts must clearly show the amount, date, provider name, legal address (or other identifier where a receipt) and what the payment is for.
  • Expenses will only be paid if there is enough income to cover the expenses within the collective.
