Fundraiser: Watershed Walkabout Scavenger Hunt
PROJECT
Fiscal Host: The Open Circle Foundation
The Watershed Walkabout is a fundraiser to support training for youth community leaders.
About
Purpose:
Inspired by the upcoming Earth Day, the Watershed Walkabout is designed to deepen our connection to the local environment and foster a sense of pride in our shared home. Through exploration and learning, the Walkabout is meant to cultivate a stronger sense of place by helping participants understand the many elements of a watershed (the land, water, flora and fauna etc.). This journey is not just a walk, it’s a call to adventure; an opportunity to discover the beauty of our surroundings and appreciate the richness of our local environment. By emphasizing community stewardship and celebrating the cultural heritage embedded in the landscape, the Watershed Walkabout inspires a commitment to environmental care and a shared responsibility for the well-being of our community. Join us on this adventure of discovery, where every step contributes to a stronger sense of belonging and a collective pride in the place we call home.
Why People Should Support It:
Supporting the Watershed Walkabout is an investment in the environmental education and cultural richness of our community. Here's why individuals and businesses should lend their support:

- Cultural Preservation: By celebrating traditional knowledge, the project promotes our cultural heritage, ensuring that the wisdom of previous generations continues to shape our community's identity and values.
- Community Engagement: Support for the Walkabout strengthens community bonds and encourages active participation in local events. This fosters a sense of pride and shared responsibility for our natural resources.
You can support this project by having your organization represented at our booth the Santa Barbara Earth Day. All monies raised will go to Open Circle Foundation Scholarship fund towards supporting training for young environmental leadership.
