Fee for using The Week

This is the place to pay for using The Week within the workplace.

THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE who are alarmed or concerned about climate change… but continue life as usual because they feel powerless or don’t know what to do.

THEY NEED TO GO FROM CONCERN TO ACTION if collectively we want to stand a chance to slow and reverse environmental breakdown. We need millions of people who transform their workplace from the inside, who activate their community, who pressure their politicians, and who consume differently.

“GIVE PEOPLE THE FACTS AND THEY WILL WAKE UP AND ACT” NEVER REALLY WORKED.
We need a new playbook, based on key insights from social sciences and successful social action movements.
  1. Deep emotional reckoning: Scaring people doesn’t work. Nor does the opposite - superficial inspiration by jumping to solutions. We need a space where we can safely reckon with what’s coming.
  2. Breaking through isolation: Our friends, family, and colleagues need to be part of this journey. Otherwise, we are swimming  against the current.
  3. The power of narratives: We get mobilized not with fear, guilt, or sacrifice, but  with a new story and concrete tools to make our lives better.
  4. Two to six months of support: Awakening can happen in an instant. But lasting engagement needs a period of regular support to solidify a new identity.

THIS PLAYBOOK IS AT THE HEART OF THE WEEK:

the Week is:
  • A carefully planned and guided journey
  • that takes people from awareness and devastation,
  • to energized inspiration, and finally to action and outreach to others.
It's:
  • One documentary film designed (and proven!) for maximum emotional impact
  • Built-in community to process the experience
  • Guided conversation and next step action items

OUR GOALS:
  • Engage 1 million (base goal) to 10+ million people in both the US and in Europe.
  • Through a ripple effect, shift the cultural norm. Being concerned is no longer enough. We want people to find pride, joy and social recognition in facing reality and becoming involved.
  • Help bridge divides in families and social circles, by creating a context where people go deep in expressing their care and find common ground beyond surface disagreement.

HELP US MAKE IT HAPPEN
  • To date, we have raised $1,1 million. Current donors include the Climate Emergency Fund and Cisco Foundation.
  • We are currently looking for $1.2 million to complete funding of phase 2 for film production and web platform development.
  • The Week is incorporated as a non-profit and can received tax deductible donations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, among other countries.
  • Helene Gerin and Frederic Laloux, The Week’s two founders, have made substantial financial and in-kind donations (no salary drawn from the project).
