About
Trans Pride Cardiff was first held in 2019 to highlight the need for trans-specific events in Cardiff and Wales as a whole. In 2023, it came back with a new team born from a committee featuring the original founders and experienced community organisers from local queer groups, and delivered a three-day event with a £2,500 budget, 6 weeks of planning, and queer audacity.
The three-day event was well attended and enjoyed by trans, intersex and nonbinary people of all kinds. 2023 was our experiment, a trial run and proof of concept - to show that pride can be community-led, low budget, scrappy and free, and still pay performers and artists a decent fee. We're looking to build on this for 2024 and deliver a diverse range of events with something for everyone that are accessible, free to attend, and supportive of the local queer infrastructure, from drag acts to food collectives.
