So I have finally started university and my student finance isn't enough to cover the cost of transportation to my placement and food. I have about £900 short for all my expenses which I will attach to show. I have to pay £8.30 every day for 4 days a week to cover costs for my placement which ends on 24th June 2024. I receive my next student finance payment on January 8th so i should be ok until then.
What this means is currently i'm having to work a part time job during full time education after starting a month and a half later due to medical reasons. I am overwhelmed but determined to fight and try to catch up. I have about £80 in my bank balance but this means i will only be able to support myself for maybe the next 2 weeks and i will run out of food by then and have no means to continue my placement because i wont be able to travel there. I need support to be able to complete my first term of university and because im not a full UK citizen and on a residence permit theres only so much support the university can offer me. I am also unable to rely on family as I am estranged for being trans.
I know this amount of money is unlikely but its worth a try. Ive been struggling a lot the last few months.
The things I need to pay are Water bill: £80 until January, Train to my placement: £384 and food £40 (i can survive off pound land noodles). I am only asking for £250 because i know thats already a lot of money and I am working a part time job although its very tiring while continuing my full time education.
I will attach my student finance entitlement which shows how the loan is broken down into 3 parts, for term 1 i receive £3700 which i was able to pay for rent and i have also paid off gas and electricity and wifi. Its just that the cost is £4600 which means i'm in a difficult position for term 1.
Many thanks,
Kira

We accept claims for the cost of medications, food, transport to appointments, counselling and anything related to your transition. We also support trans, nonbinary, and intersex (TIN) folk with bills and living expenses. We do not currently accept claims for money for pet expenses.
If you are applying for the first time, please provide the first half of your postcode and a link to one of your social media accounts in the "additional invoice information" box. This is to verify your identity and prevent scammers from taking money from trans people.
Please also let us know how much you need (max. £60 per month) and what you need it for (eg. bills, food, debt etc etc) in the "additional invoice information" box.
We don't allow reoccurring grants set through open collective, we ask that you don't set your grant to reoccur automatically as it adds strain to our grant team and can create duplicate expenses.
