Hi,
I'm Lara. I'm not great at putty stories as I've always been independent and have never asked for money before, sometimes surviving by the skin of my teeth, showing my body on the webcam.
Ive lived abroad many years and saw myself lose work and my bank account go to 0.
Ive recently moved back to Wales for a fresh start and because worked had dried up over there.
Im currently living with my parents until I can afford my own place and have an income.
Also, Ive spent many years in denial about my gender, but with a friend have come to accept it and sometimes even feel proud and almost capable of flying the transgender flag.
I feel that I couldn't start to live as my self abroad, as I was already very noticeable as a foreigner without even thinking about wearing clearly visibilily female clothes.
So i think that wales and the UK is the best place to slowly present as the real me in public.
Im also using the opportunity to try and follow my dreams in games development. About 10 years ago, i made a but of money with a game, which allowed me to support myself for a couple of months.
But I was early twenties and unfortunately believed the constant badgering of my former self that i needed to get a proper job - also keeping busy in a client facing job was a good distraction from me being scared to face my gender issues.
So I'm looking for anything that can help with following my dream of becoming an indie games developer.
Thanks and kisess,
Lara

We accept claims for the cost of medications, food, transport to appointments, counselling and anything related to your transition. We also support trans, nonbinary, and intersex (TIN) folk with bills and living expenses. We do not currently accept claims for money for pet expenses.
If you are applying for the first time, please provide the first half of your postcode and a link to one of your social media accounts in the "additional invoice information" box. This is to verify your identity and prevent scammers from taking money from trans people.
Please also let us know how much you need (max. £60 per month) and what you need it for (eg. bills, food, debt etc etc) in the "additional invoice information" box.
We don't allow reoccurring grants set through open collective, we ask that you don't set your grant to reoccur automatically as it adds strain to our grant team and can create duplicate expenses.
