ursuppe partner newsletter #1
Published on July 29, 2024 by Anders Aarvik

Dear partner and collaborator of ursuppe,

First of all, thanks to everyone for showing such notable support and recognition of our work, and for using our platform ursuppe.dk. It is heartwarming! If you received this email it means that we see you as our partner and collaborator. If you do not want to receive any emails in the future, please do not hesitate to ask us to remove you from our mailing list of partners and collaborators. This newsletter is sent out quarterly and contains wider news about our platform cooperative.

If you forgot who we are - ursuppe is an artist-run and anti-authoritarian platform cooperative for contemporary art in Denmark, functioning externally as a public service hosting events, archives, curated highlights, and a pinboard. Please read more at ursuppe.dk.

News

So, since last time when we wrote to you to keep hush about ursuppe's existence, we have officially launched our platform as well as onboarding new workers into our cooperative, specifically for our editors and system administrator working groups. These are the core of ursuppe and the reason we exist, together with you, the partners and creators of the content of the platform. Thank you for supporting the turnaround of contemporary art press material in Denmark.

In connection to that we want to encourage everyone to become a member/contributor on our Open Collective page. This is the place for more formal news, as well as our place for donations. A financial contribution is not required to become a member, tho it is highly appreciated.  Your mere subscription as a member/contributor is what means the most and can be one with the “Immaterial Soup Member” contribution.

What we will be working on… a lot of different things, but we would like you to know that one of those is assembling a registered association and enrolling more workers.

Software news

We have released version 1.1.0 of the ursuppe source code, which can be inspected through GitHub, but the most crucial changes is:
  • New map features to toggle upcoming and current events as well as “zoom out”-button.
  • An option to create one-day events! For concerts, performances, fundraisers and other contemporary art activities of more temporal character.
  • A new UI for desktop-users, which creates a better overview of the different functionalities of the platform.
  • An additional “newspaper gray” color mode besides our origin green and darkmode brown for the option of a more neutral look.
What we will be working on… a lot of different functionality, but we would like you to know that one of those is multiple languages to include non-english speakers.

Warmest,
ursuppe
