ursuppe partner newsletter #2
Published on October 3, 2024 by Anders Aarvik
Dear partner and collaborator of ursuppe,
If you received this email it means that we see you as our partner and collaborator. If you do not want to receive any emails in the future, please do not hesitate to ask us to remove you from our mailing list. This newsletter is sent out quarterly and contains wider news about our cooperative and platform.
If you forgot who we are – ursuppe is a public service for contemporary art in Denmark, amplifying events, archives, and highlights, as well as providing a pinboard. Built on an artist-run, anti-authoritarian, and open-source ethos, we are organized as a platform cooperative. The users, collaborators, and partners who create the content that we provide are what constitute ursuppe. Please read more at ursuppe.dk.
Support ♥
The best way to support ursuppe is the use, creation and sharing of content at ursuppe.dk. We also encourage everyone to become a member/contributor on our Open Collective page. This is the place for more formal news, as well as donations. A financial contribution is not required to become a member, tho it is highly appreciated. Your mere subscription as a member/contributor is what means the most to show your support and can be one with the “Immaterial Soup Member” contribution. If you want to contribute to the future of ursuppe you can become a member of the cooperative, please see the working groups.

Workshop
In a cooperative or collective we choose together, and the long-awaited workshop has not been forgotten, but is under re-construction. This means that we are rethinking the format, as we have had conversations about that the workshop format might not be ideal for what we want to achieve. Therefore we are currently looking into a format more based on a hackathon, where we will work together through concrete tasks and topics in an informal setting. The ones of you who already signed up for the workshop will still be contacted.

What we will be working on…
A lot of different things, but we would like you to know that one of those is; looking into philanthropic funding options, looking into server space for our physical server, organising a hackathon, and enrolling more members and workers.

Software news
We have released version 1.1.13 of the ursuppe source code, which can be inspected through GitHub, but the most crucial changes is:
- The pinboard has been enhanced, so the information is clearer, and it is possible to upload an image to the pinboard posts, while we maintain our newspaper style.
- Clearer requirements and error messages in calendar form.
- Fixed sorting bug in calendar.
What we will be working on…
A lot of different functionality, but we would like you to know that one of those is; optimised mobile menu/navigation, enhance catalogue-section, and multiple languages to include non-english speakers.
Issues can be reported to this e-mail or at GitHub.
Warmest,
ursuppe
