About

We're building what should already exist, and giving it away.

The Veydrin Order is a fellowship of people who got tired of waiting for companies and governments to put people first. So we started building it ourselves. Open software, open standards, and real work on real land, released free, forever, for anyone who needs it.

The theory is simple. When the better version of a thing is free and doesn't exploit you, eventually the exploitative version becomes indefensible. The only way to get there is to build that better version and give it away.

Four pillars

The Order's work sits in four projects. Each has its own scope, its own books, and its own story.

  • Ground & Field. Food systems, pollinator habitat, and land restoration. Aquaponic greenhouses that feed communities year-round. Apiaries and native pollinator work. Faith-land stewardship and living-grove kits. Hands in the dirt, measured in yields and seasons.
  • Open Technology. The open standards and protocols that everything we build runs on. VODS, OHDS, OCEADS, VFDS, VRS, and the VCN Community and Protocol specs. Published, versioned, validated, and defended. Free for any implementer to build on.
  • Community Tools. Free software for real people doing real work. Apiara (beekeeping), Teaveya (tea blending), Ojarim (the world's largest open pollinator atlas), Omnavar (grant discovery for nonprofits), and Digorix (dinosaur exploration for kids). Offline-first, zero-telemetry, AGPL-licensed, yours to fork.
  • Peacebuilding & Relief. Real, equitable peace in places the world tends to forget, and rapid response when crisis hits. Not peacekeeping. Building.

What we will not do

We do not take advertising money. We do not add telemetry, tracking, or analytics to our software. We do not put the "community edition" of a tool behind a freemium paywall. We do not partner on terms that compromise the people we serve. We do not promise outcomes we can't deliver. We do not manufacture urgency to juice donations.

Every dollar in and every dollar out is visible on this page. Every project inside the collective has its own public accounting. Every piece of software we ship is released under licenses (AGPL-3.0, CC BY, CC BY-SA) that keep it free for the next person too.

Who we are

Engineers, beekeepers, researchers, stewards, translators, and people who just want to put their hands to useful work. We're small on purpose. Scale comes from the tools and the standards, not from the staff headcount.

How to help

The most valuable thing you can do is become a recurring backer. Real, steady, boring monthly support is what lets the Order pay for the things that don't make good fundraising stories. Server costs, code review, documentation, translations, and the slow work of shipping software the right way. Even five dollars a month, from enough people, rewrites what's possible.

You can also contribute code, translations, species data, observations, lesson plans, or testing. Every project repository lives publicly on Codeberg.

However you show up, thank you. This is slow work and you make it possible.
