Hello, all -

This space and idea have not been abandoned, but we have stalled for lack of a fiscal host vs. self-hosted/LLC-run idea.

Our application for hosting by the Open Collective Foundation was of course closed when that Foundation announced they would be ceasing services. This is OK; we may not legitimately have a “charity” profile at this time, and did not need to limit ourselves to the 501(c)(3) category of hosts.

I am continuing to learn with some other Fediverse initiatives I am part of. A couple of other hosts we may consider applying to:
— Fission, which hosts CoSocial.ca but I think is not strictly Canadian
— Open Source Collective, which shares similar naming but is otherwise not affiliated with Open Collective nor the winding-down Open Collective Foundation; they host PixelFed and while they are a OSS “development” support organization, we may be able to make the case that as an actively managed and administered Fediverse instance we do fit in that space as we work on minor initiatives on our own system and will document/share back, including through IFTAS, discoveries and reports regarding Mastodon communities.
