2023 What's Update!

We Care for Us Community Care Clinic provides lovingly liberatory BIPOC-centered community herbal care through free 1-on-1 consults with BIPOC community herbalist practitioners. In 2023, we offered 13 free 1-on-1 consults with these practitioners and free herbal care packages sent directly to their homes. The money we received was used to cover various expenses, including practitioner fees, herbal care packages, and shipping costs for sending them to clients. Additionally, we allocated funds towards software overhead, such as Zoom, Acuity, and SquareSpace, as well as some administrative fees.
One of the challenges we faced was dealing with a significant number of clients who failed to show up for their scheduled visits, which posed difficulties in providing consistent care and support. We are a small group of practitioners with limited capacity, as each member of our collective has other work obligations and commitments outside of the collective. We have discussed adding new practitioners though funding has been a barrier. As we all have outside commitments, finding time to dedicate to fundraising has been a challenge.
2023 has really helped us to see what our actual capacity is. Luckily, we have a streamlined process that allows us to continue to operate with low administrative needs. This allowed us to cut back on the amount of collective meetings to more effectively use our energy towards caring for clients.
In 2024 we would like to grow our funding base so we have increased capacity for monthly consults for our communities. We would like to grow our BIPOC collective, and additional funding would provide us the opportunity to bring on new BIPOC herbalist practitioners, supporting them in the important work of community care and expanding our impact to new communities.
