This week it's Community Energy Fortnight and so we've three films about Community Energy.

We'll also be joined by

The films will start around 6:45pm ish:

We the Power: The Future of Energy is Community-Owned (38 mins) 2021

A film about the citizen-led community-energy movement in Europe and the visionaries lighting the way.

Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbours. We the Power follows friends, families and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put it in the hands of locals and strengthen their towns.

The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable energy revolution and build healthier, financially stable communities. Join an energy community. Invest in one. Or build your own.

Power to the People (40 mins) 2024

With fantastic resources of wind, sun, tides, geothermal heat and critical minerals, Cornwall could drive the whole country’s clean energy revolution.

However, the UK’s 100-year-old grid infrastructure means this potential can’t be harnessed – while huge numbers of local people are living in poorly insulated homes they can’t afford to heat.

Power to the People explores the exciting opportunities and huge challenges facing us as we wean ourselves off fossil fuels – from a farmer who’s found a novel way to combine food production with solar panels, opportunities to use our historic heritage to power the future, and projects to harness the amazing untapped heat 5km down in the Earth’s crust.

We Are All People of Power (19 mins) 2025

The transition to green energy might seem to be the job of large corporations, but there are many involved who are working in more modest, yet inspirational ways.

Here is a documentary made with artist Polly Meyrick, who travels around Devon meeting the unsung heroes of the transition - the community energy manger, the farmer using solar power, the heat pump installer, the electric water taxi boatmaster, and more.

We'll also have:

Delicious (mostly) organic vegan curries from Fergus Bradbeer aka Vegie Vortex (who also used to do the curries at Beach and Barnicott), plus hot and cold drinks.

Please note:

Our room hire costs £42/ week so if you're able to able to contribute more than the default ticket amount then please do so.

We also need to ensure enough people come along to make it worthwhile for Fergus to keep coming along to cook up the delicious food - so invite a friend!

Many thanks in advance. Together We Have Everything.
