Inspiring documentaries, short films, (mostly) organic vegan curries, hot and cold drinks.
An exciting new fortnightly event for Bridport in the lovely White Room at the Chapel in the Garden (entry via Rax Lane)
This week we're screening: Favela Rising
This is one of my favourite films and the lead protagonist Anderson Sà is one of my heroes. After watching this film I think he'll be one of yours too.

Shorts from around 6:30pm ish
And the main feature from 7pm:
Favela Rising (1 hr 20 mins) 2005 In Rio de Janeiro, a former drug dealer and a community activist use Afro-reggae music to transform a slum.
Favela Rising is an explosive and inspirational documentary about Rio de Janeiro's most violent favela (shantytown) and the revolutionary vision of a man who against all odds rises to enhance his community. Haunted by the murders of his family and friends, Anderson Sà is a former drug-trafficker who turns revolutionary in Rio de Janeiro's most feared slum. Through hip-hop music, the rhythms of the street, and Afro-Brazilian dance he rallies his community to war against the violent oppression enforced by teenage drug armies and sustained by corrupt police.
