About
Join us for Night 4 of our Free Palestine Film Festival in West Norwood at The Portico.
Our fourth film is Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk (2025, Director - Sepideh Farsi), which got its world premiere at the Film Festival de Cannes 2025. You can watch the trailer here.
An Iranian filmmaker connects with a Palestinian woman named Fatima Hassouna living under occupation in Gaza who documents life under bombardment. During their 200+ days of digital exchanges, Fatem becomes Sepideh’s eyes in Gaza, laughing, smiling and surviving under the constant sounds of drones and bombs with a spirit so infectious, it’ll grab you through the screen. Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk is a response by Sepideh Farsi as a filmmaker, to the ongoing massacre of the Palestinians and a personal way not to lose her sanity.
Screened at Festival de Cannes this year, Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk is a tribute to the memory of Fatima, known affectionately as Fatem, as she was killed by an Israeli missile strike shortly after learning of the film’s selection to Cannes. Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk is ‘stirring in its capacity for hope against all odds, while also placing on full display the cost of occupation, portraying the full extent of the lives and dreams’ destroyed by genocide.
