WBW Mutual Aid Update + New food pantry!
Published on June 16, 2020 by Catherine Crowther

Hello neighbors!

WBWMA’s quick and multifaceted collective action has helped hundreds of our Brooklyn neighbors - so much so that we (meaning you!) have developed a reputation throughout New York City for reliable and sensitive services. That’s completely due to your generosity - in both time and money. On behalf of those neighbors, we thank you. Unfortunately, the need for that generosity continues to grow. As the economic plague continues, the crisis for many Brooklyn families deepens. The frequency and urgency of requests for assistance has continued to sharply increase.

If you can do one more thing right now, please consider sharing this note with someone else who might want to get involved or contribute!

A few updates:

-Black Lives Matter. WBWMA stands with those protesting and many of our members are active out there every day. We're proud of (y)our fight back against authoritarianism and racism. Nevertheless, it means we need more volunteers to step up to help meet the current demand. Are you willing and able to help with errands, even occasionally? Please sign up at www.wbwmutualaid.org

-WBW MA has begun weekly bulk deliveries of food to a group of families at the Bay View Houses in Canarsie and weekly hot meals from local restaurants to the Wyckoff Gardens Senior Center in Boerum Hill (Soul Spot is first up!). We are continuing our produce deliveries to Wyckoff Gardens, and hope to expand that weekly to Bay View as well.

-WBW MA is now accepting donations of non-perishable food and other essential items at Christ Church in Cobble Hill. Drop by any time after Tuesday and leave your extra items in the marked ‘Free Pantry’ box inside the gate, and/or take anything you need. We will be distributing surplus donations with our regular deliveries. Contact us to schedule a drop-off for in-kind donations at: (929) 314-0899 or [email protected].

We hope you too are proud of all that we have accomplished together. We look forward to building on this good work to make an even bigger difference in the life of our community.

Thank you for supporting your neighbors,

WBWMA
