About
An Overview of The Woodshed’s Intentions, Aspirations, and Process:
The purpose of this Non-Profit Corporation is to record and archive digital media that represents southeastern musicians who write, compose, and perform their own musical material including lyrics and melodies, and to provide free access through community public radio to the general public for its benefit. All donations to the Woodshed Archive are solely directed to further its recording sessions, equipment and server expenses.
We have chosen to focus primarily on music created in the SE US because of the multitude and melting pot of cultures who populate this region. Artists are selected to perform for Woodshed Archive sessions because of their relevance and ability to share our culture with current and future generations. It’s more than just the music or a song; it’s about conveying who we are now and where we came from.
The Woodshed Archive was established to provide an outlet for artist to have their live performances documented. We chose to capture only live performances because of the energy, emotion and authenticity that live performances provide. This also provides the public with an unadulterated listening privilege of the true sound of the musicians.
All recorded music is stored on Woodshed Archive servers and provides public access exclusively through Open Source software. The Woodshed Archive also incorporates a Creative Commons (CC) license. Every license helps creators retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and make some uses of their work non-commercially.
