About
Food insecurity is a significant problem faced by many Worcester residents. Worcester Families Feeding Families was established to help combat food insecurity in Worcester and encourage healthier eating habits for individuals who cannot afford food by producing nutritious, low-sodium meals. Another aspect of WFFF is its contribution to local Worcester Latinx community members by providing nutritious meals that are culturally appropriate for those in need. As of now, there are over 100 Latinx and Vietnamese community members being fed cultural meals daily by Jessica Reyes and Judith Alverez through Worcester Families Feeding Families’ collaboration with Meals on Wheels. Although Reyes and Alverez are working efficiently to produce meals for Worcester residents with Meals on Wheels, Worcester Families Feeding Families’ main goal is to be a sustainable source of nutritious food for anyone in need, not just members of Meals on Wheels. In order to accomplish this goal, the organization needs a food truck to reach residents in need of food but unable to transport to a location providing adequate food. By going mobile, WFFF can provide more community members facing food insecurity with health-conscious, culturally appropriate meals.
