About
Technology has helped more writers achieve their dreams of becoming published authors than ever before, but the dream of making a stable, full-time income from writing is still out of reach for far too many. One big reason for this is the fact that existing self-publishing platforms are corporations that put profits over people. They take too big a cut of authors' profits and subject authors to unfair business practices.
We think authors deserve a marketplace where they're in charge. As co-op members, the authors who sell e-books on our platform will make business decisions democratically. The platform will take a smaller cut of e-book sales, plus authors will have the option to distribute a portion of the co-op's profits back to themselves as patronage.
Our marketplace will also strive to offer readers a better browsing experience. Instead of burying search results under ads, we'll focus on helping each reader find the right books for them--without ever harvesting their data.
