Ann Smith Limited (aka Professor Zero) is an independent consultant who strongly focuses on accelerating sustainability and climate action. With a PhD in marine biology, CEnv (chartered environmental manager) certification, FIEMA (Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) membership, and EHF (Edmund Hillary Fellow) recognition, Ann brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her clients.

Having served as the chief executive at Toitū Envirocare (formerly Enviro-Mark Solutions Limited) and as a sustainable business advisor to Manakki Whenua Landcare Research, Ann possesses extensive experience in environmental, carbon, and sustainability strategies. Additionally, her roles as a professor of environmental management and sustainability coordinator at the University of Hertfordshire have equipped her with valuable insights into academia and collaborative European-funded projects to enhance environmental management systems to boost business competitiveness.

Ann's authored and co-authored over 200 publications, reports, and presentations demonstrates her commitment to advancing knowledge and sharing insights on sustainability and climate change. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences, providing advice and training on sustainability, climate change action, roadmaps, and strategies.

In recognition of her expertise, Ann has served as an external examiner for universities, an assessor for the accreditation of masters courses in water and environmental management, a referee for research proposals by esteemed institutions such as NERC (Natural Environment Research Council), the British Council, and the Irish EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). She has also contributed her expertise to MBIE assessment panels for targeted science investment in New Zealand and served as a judge for various environmental awards in the country.
