Hidden Voices
PROJECT
Fiscal Host: The Social Change Nest
Hidden Voices supports Camden residents in documenting Black history, especially Windrush stories, with training and assistance.

About
Hidden Voices: Preserving Camden’s Black History
Hidden Voices is our flagship project, developed in partnership with Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre (CLSAC), giving Camden residents the opportunity to explore and share the borough's Black history. This volunteer-led initiative offers free training in oral history techniques, interviewing, and archival research, empowering participants to uncover and preserve stories—especially those of Camden’s Windrush generation.
Volunteers will document personal histories through audio, video, and podcast interviews while also gathering photographs, registration certificates, and other important materials. These will be catalogued and made accessible at CLSAC, ensuring that Camden’s Black history is recognized and safeguarded for future generations.
Beyond preserving history, Hidden Voices provides volunteers with hands-on experience in oral history, community engagement, and digital archiving. Travel and food expenses are covered to ensure accessibility for all participants.
