Rain gutter worked beautifully.  It was so nice not to have a sheet of  water pour down on you.
Update: rain gutter is finished.  It hasn't rained yet to test it out but I'm sure it will be great.
So many people commented yesterday about how nice the carport was and how great it was to be out of the Texas blazing sun 🌄. Such a blessing. It also helped preserve food that didn't need to be in the refrigerator but didn't need to be in the sun either. 
The carport is finished.  It was so nice to have people come over and get their food in the shade.  It started raining while they were here and we stayed dry.  Such a blessing.  
Next we are getting rain gutters to keep the rain coming off the house between the house and the carport off our heads and necks.  We couldn't connect the carport to the house or it would be new construction.
