Documenting Eyewitness
Help document war crimes, advocate for justice, and create lasting impact for victims and survivors.
About
Introduction
Documenting testimonies of war crimes is a vital aspect of our mission. Each testimony is a voice of truth, a personal narrative that forms the fabric of historical accuracy. The Ukraine War Archive is dedicated to recording, verifying, and preserving these testimonies, ensuring that every story is heard and remembered.
The Power of Testimonies
Our team of 17 professional Ukrainian interviewers works across various regions of Ukraine to collect first-hand testimonies of war crimes and war-related experiences. The team adheres to guidelines developed in consultation with psychologists, journalists, and human rights professionals.
We have recorded 800 interviews – stories and testimonies from liberated territories, front-line towns and villages, and internally displaced people from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Interviews are available for national and international human rights defenders and investigators to be used as proof of Russia's war crimes in international courts.
- Personal Narratives: Each testimony provides a unique and personal perspective on the conflict, contributing to a fuller understanding of events.
- Legal Evidence: These testimonies are not just stories; they are potential evidence in legal proceedings, holding the power to bring justice.
- Preserving History: By documenting these voices, we're building a historical record for future generations, ensuring that the truth is never forgotten.
Your Impact
Your donations enable us to:
- Conduct interviews and record testimonies securely.
- Process and verify the information gathered.
- Create a dedicated digital space for these testimonies, making them accessible for legal use and historical research.
Be a Part of the Story
Supporting our testimonies project means you're contributing to a lasting legacy of truth and justice. Each donation helps amplify a voice, tell a story, and edge closer to accountability.
Objectives
Within the next 12 months, we will expand our team of interviewers and increase the number of documented interviews to 1,000, covering a broader range of affected regions in Ukraine.
Over the next 5 years Ukraine War Archive will become the premier resource for evidence-based documentation of war crimes and human rights abuses in this war and collaborate with national and international organisations to facilitate successful prosecution and punishment of war criminals.
