About
CommunityBridge is offering a video chat platform called BigBlueButton. It is fully encrypted and built with powerful features suited for teaching and learning, with many of the same familiar features and some added ingredients that enable participatory learning. BigBlueButton is free software that we are able to modify and customize.
As a community service, we host Privacy Workshops on CommunityBridge.com to raise awareness of the pernicious practices of surveillance capitalists and promote autonomy over our digital lives by educating people about the value and vulnerabilities of the data they create as a byproduct of their everyday digital activities. Our goal is to grow a community of technology users who can help each other navigate that landscape, and balance their privacy goals with the demands of modern society.
There are plenty of websites offering privacy tips and information however we intend to build and aggregate a library of reliable information that is readily available and meets people at their level of expertise. The CommunityBridge team members are already deeply immersed in many networks and movements and are familiar with activist organizations’ need to raise awareness on privacy protection for their members. We will do this in part by hosting a series of workshops using movies, classes, and hands-on sessions focused on raising awareness and regaining freedom in the digital world to take back control of our data.
