About
Who are Distribute Aid?
Distribute Aid started operating in Europe three years ago, where we now support over 130 grassroots organisations in their operations. Distribute Aid provides supply chain and logistics support to help coordinate large responses involving multiple actors in disaster relief and ongoing crises.
In 2021 we started advising US organisations on how to apply the same large-scale framework to their operations.
What can Distribute Aid achieve?
Our solutions create a range of benefits. Our projects encourage collaboration and partnerships in order to reduce costs, reduce waste, and reduce carbon emissions, all while increasing the quality of aid! We achieve all of this through easy-to-implement solutions such as our 'regular routes' which encourage groups local to each other to work together in their aid collection efforts.
We also conduct data collection projects such as our Needs Assessments, which enable collection groups to run targeted collections and reassure receiving groups that they will receive the aid they truly need. These needs assessments are also used by us to approach in-kind donors. With this data, we have the ability to give a figure to a large donor for how many items would meet the needs across an entire region, or continent for a whole quarter! Thanks to our logistical expertise, we then have the ability to distribute any in-kind donations across our strong and wide network.
Distribute Aid is extremely excited to be opening up our USA chapter and bringing all of these benefits to the amazing groups operating in the US to support people experiencing a disaster, whether that be through resettlement programmes, extreme climate event response, or other hardships.
What has Distribute Aid achieved so far?
Our network across Europe reaches over 100 grassroots groups! Some of these groups run aid collections and offer 'support from home', whilst others run services and distributions directly to displaced and otherwise disadvantaged people. These services stretch from serving hot meals to the distribution of clothes, to education centres, to legal support! In 2020, we helped organise 42 shipments with aid onboard valued at over $2Million. This equates to over 1 million items weighing over 460,000KG!
Towards the end of 2020, we began plans to expand to Lebanon. Following the ongoing crisis in the country, we had many members of our existing network put us in contact with groups in Lebanon looking for support. So far this year, we have delivered 2 full 40ft containers, we have one in transit, with three more planned before the end of the year! One of the first containers to arrive contained an in-kind donation of over 90,000 bars of soap and two of the containers going out before the end of 2021 contain an in-kind donation of over 800,000 reusable masks!
We are honoured to be able to support the incredible groups that we do, and the amazing people that make them! We can't wait to start making more connections in the USA with even more amazing people.
