Our First Year 🎂

Downham Solidarity Fund has been redistributing funds within Downham Market for a year!
Can you believe it? It's flown by! It's now been 12 months since the first donation into the Fund back in May 2023, and we've distributed an amazing £1,335.75 to people in financial need since then. All possible only because of donations in solidarity from people within our community. Thank you!
💚 We've had such a heartwarming response from the community, people supporting the fund and helping spread the word. Downham Library has put up our poster on their display for people in need, Downham Advertiser magazine has given us two slots in their magazine that hits every door mat in the town. We've been in touch with local churches, the food bank, councillors, charities and more.
📝 In December we put out a survey to ask for feedback. Only a small number responded, but the messages let us know we're on the right track. Three grant recipients told us they had “struggled getting financial support elsewhere” and that the grant helped to “ease their worry or stress about money”. Two of the three stated the grant “gave them back options or choices”.
🗓️ We continue to post monthly fund updates on Facebook and Twitter with how many people the fund has supported that month and how much has been donated, holding ourselves accountable so the community knows the impact their solidarity is having. We've experimented using Nextdoor and LinkedIn to try and spread the word but those didn't seem as successful.
🗣 If you want to help us spread the word you can download our poster here and put it up somewhere, or share our posts on Facebook or Twitter.
Write to us on [email protected] if you have any questions, feedback or ideas.
