December Spending Update
Published on January 7, 2022 by Z

Besides the 12/1 Wound Care Kit supply order, here are the rest of our December expenses. The theme of this month was "quality over quantity." As the weather continues to be dangerously, fatally cold in Minneapolis, making sure that houseless people are adequately protected with the appropriate winter gear is our top priority.

Fleet Farm
12 pairs of wind/water proof black gloves
2 fleece hooded neck gaiters
6 thermal long underwear bottoms
5 thermal long underwear tops
24 pairs heavy wool socks
Total: $327.51

Target
3 thermal underwear bottoms
3 thermal underwear tops
3 fleece lined wool beanies
Total: 102.56

Goodwill
(A note about Goodwill: Goodwill is bad. We know this. Unfortunately when we need extremely quick turnaround and can't wait for items to ship, or we need to really stretch dollars, the bougie suburban goodwills are our best options. Columbia, Spyder, Carhartt, Eddie Bauer, Land's End, and REI winter coats, ski jackets, fleece and down vests. Practically new Sorel and Merrell boots. We are always assessing our options and sometimes have to make utilitarian choices).

8 polar fleece/down vests for layering
6 pairs of boots
5 winter jackets
6 hats
10 pairs of lined wool socks
5 thick blankets for bedding and tent insulation
Total: $427.92

Miscellaneous expenses
14 pairs of Carhartt winter wool socks, $80
Medication bags, storage containers, and moisture absorbers $27.87
Fentanyl Test Strips, $81.03
Storage Unit $102
