About

Founded in 2020 during the Minneapolis Uprising, Freedom Street Health is a community health and medic organization devoted to providing a high standard of medical care informed by revolutionary politics. We are explicitly anti-racist, anti-capitalist, and anti-fascist, and recognize that it is our duty to dismantle racism, misogyny, classism, and ableism as it exists in the US healthcare system. As EMTs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, we provide medical support by highly trained professionals at political actions. Freedom Street Health offers a variety of classes like CPR, Stop the Bleed, Protest Safety, and Overdose Reversal, teaching folks the skills they need to care for their communities. Through our harm reduction initiatives, we pack and distribute Wound Care Kits to syringe service providers and people who use drugs to help them prevent infections and complications. In addition to our wound care kits, we distribute period kits, dental hygiene kits, and high-quality seasonal clothing to protect against the elements. While our mission stays the same, we are always evolving to meet the needs of the community. Community medicine is community defense.

Mission Statement:
We believe that all comrades past, present, and future should feel empowered to care for themselves. FSH democratizes education and resources, making care not just accessible but available, empowering those historically disenfranchised by the medical industrial complex. We affirm that care is a culture that communities engage in and practice daily - from preventative care, to harm reduction practices, to crisis response.Â
