About

World-wide, citizen and amateur developers out-number traditional software developers both within enterprises and in the broader community. GrowOS's mission is to enable them to collaborate using no-code and low-code technologies via an open integration platform designed for technology sharing.

Initially, GrowOS is focussed on edge devices built with Home Assistant's esphome platform.

GrowOS, like all successful runtime integration platforms, separates itself into four technology groups: 1) hardware enablement, 2) system services, 3) applications and 4) system configuration.  GrowOS provides easy mechanisms to integrate those parts into working firmware using commonly available  technologies and  well-understood mechanisms so that its learning curve is as short as possible.

Projects, like people, have core values.  GrowOS has these core values:

  1. Always keep learning.
  2. Stay humble.
  3. Continuous engagement.
  4. Simultaneous representation of multiple divergent ideas.
  5. Zoom-out and zoom-in to stay relevant.
  6. Embrace considerate debate as a gift.
  7. Consider "faster", "easier" and "accessible" technology attributes front-of-mind.
  8. Favour extensibility over completeness.
  9. Consider equity in all aspects of project participation.

The initial release of the platform is currently available as a "soft release" in that it is accessible on github to early adopters but is not yet broadly shared.  GrowOS and its sub-project "cpptext" will soon move to general release 1.0 platform status.
