Happy Winter Solstice!
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how much the Hibiscus Rose Therapy Fund has changed in the last year.
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how much the Hibiscus Rose Therapy Fund has changed in the last year.
How we've grown:
- The project secured fiscal sponsorship (and this new donor platform) through the Open Collective Foundation.
- The project also brought on a wonderful Grant Writer, Wankeeta Jackson
- We were able to secure $40,000 in grant donor funding, through the generous support of the Patricia Kind Family Foundation and the Gender Justice Fund!
- We secured community donations from 8 amazing individuals, include 6 of you who have committed to monthly sponsorship. Thank you sincerely.
- The project now has a shiny new website! You can visit the site at www.hibiscusrosefund.org.
What's in the works for 2023:
- We are currently in the process of finalizing our various program documentation (with the guidance of community legal support) so that we can open The Therapy Access Project and re-open The Free Letter Writing Project to applicants in the new year.
- We have been hard at work reaching out to various trans-centered community agencies in Philly to identify and cultivate community partnerships. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list to get updates on initiatives and community events as they are announced!
- We are hoping to expand our team by bringing on a Program Assistant. The Hibiscus Rose Therapy Fund is still a small grassroots project--a tiny team of one Founder/Program Director and one Grant Writer. We are committed to doing this work as long as we're able, which means a commitment to a sustainable workload. The support of a Program Assistant will be a much needed addition to the team.
- The Trans Care Community Training Project is looking for a trainer (or two)!
- Are you a Black trans mental health provider and educator (or know a brilliant such person) who offers workshops on gender-affirming care assessments and letters? We'd love to connect with you!
How you can help us grow:
- Encourage two friends to make a donation today. Ongoing financial support helps to meet the needs of the project as it grows. Every donor is invaluable to us. Every dollar truly counts.
- Encourage licensed mental health providers to join our Contributing Provider Directory!
- Being listed indicates that providers are willing to work with our mini-grant recipients. Providers must be licensed in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.
- Share our new website to help folks learn about us!
This year was so incredibly eventful for the Hibiscus Rose Therapy Fund. Words cannot express how valuable your support has been in that growth. Every time you talk about us, make a donation, or encourage someone else to donate, you support a life-saving mission. We look forward to your continued support in 2023.
Happy holidays and happy new year!
