About

Walk through Dandelion's historic brick 16th Street factory with an expert Chocolate Educator: View our entire production line, and enjoy plenty of samples, from fresh cacao pulp to finished chocolate. Machines may or may not be running during your visit, and you are always sure to catch the aroma of freshly roasted cocoa beans and chocolate. In many cases, we will have the factory to ourselves; we'll dive deeper into chocolate history, as well as our own sourcing and production processes. Either way, expect lots of chocolate to taste along the way.

Note: This event is for Mount Holyoke alums only; please see the ticket descriptions for more information.

Transportation: Please reach out to us if you are interested in carpooling or can offer a ride! Details about public transit can be found below in the message from Dandelion Chocolate.

Refunds: As we're booking tickets in advance, we'll be unable to accommodate refunds for this event. If you register but end up not being able to make it, please let us know — we recommend “donating” your ticket, and we'll post to social media to offer your spot to other alums! However, we cannot guarantee any last-minute openings.

Event updates: You'll receive your ticket confirmation email from [email protected], and any additional event updates will also be sent from that address. Make sure you'll have regular access to the email address you use to sign up for this event, and please look over our message in your confirmation email after registering!

Questions? Please check the event description (where you are now!) as well as the Club’s event FAQ (linked) and Dandelion Chocolate's website (linked) before contacting us. If your query is answered in one of those places, we may not be able to get back to you, as the Club is an all-volunteer organization with limited capacity. We appreciate your understanding.

A message from Dandelion Chocolate

The beans are roasting, the chocolate is tempering, our instructors are checking their notes, and we’re preparing in every way for your visit to our working chocolate factory on 16th and Alabama Streets.

LOCATION
Dandelion Chocolate
2600 16th Street
San Francisco, CA 94103

Please note that our factory operates between 9 am-2 pm Monday-Friday. Please visit our website here [https://store.dandelionchocolate.com/pages/visit-us] to see when our cafe is open. If you are taking a tour outside of cafe hours, we recommend arriving 30 minutes early to enjoy your complimentary cafe drink before the tour.

PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSIT
We recommend public transportation whenever possible, as street parking in the Mission is limited. We are very close to MUNI’s 22 and 33 lines, and the 16th Street BART station is a ten-minute walk away. If you’re driving, the nearest parking lot is at 24 Florida Street, and it is open to the public after 4 pm. Additionally, there is a public parking garage at [42 Hoff Street at 16th, 11 minute walk]

WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of your tour as we will begin right on time. Say hello to any of our staff members in the cafe or near the podium to let them know that you're here!

SAFETY AND LOGISTICS
- Please wear the hairnets and/or beard nets we provide with hair fully tucked in at all times.
- If your visit to the factory includes seeing our big machines up close, please stay with the group and avoid touching the machinery. Your safety is our primary concern.
- You can expect high levels of noise when machines are operating, please ask for ear protection upon arrival if you would like. Additionally, you may consider joining us for a weekend tour when the factory is not operating.

Should you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to us by calling 415-349-0942.
