Published on December 21, 2020 by Christine Waldron

Hi, can you please keep this private as it contains personal information. I was wondering if you help individual cases. I know a Mum and her adult son who are really struggling financially. The son is 28 and at college, cannot access benefi...

Hello all! Welcome to our Fund For Ferry!

Welcome! This Fund For Ferry has been set up to help our neighbours in need, and those who are helping them. In other words - everyone and anyone living in Ferry Ward. If you need any help or advice, please get in touch, we’re here to he...

About

The Covid-19 outbreak and 'lockdown' across the UK has left many people in our community vulnerable and isolated. Many are relying on family and friends, who may themselves be struggling to cope or help. Other people in our community have no family or friends locally and need the support of the wider community.

This is where we come in. With hundreds of volunteers offering to help our neighbours, we want to make it as easy, efficient and safe as possible to give a helping hand.

We believe in helping our neighbours when they are in need - safely and without judgement.

As part of the wider Covid-19 Mutual Aid UK network, we provide practical help, ensuring everyone who lives in Ferry Ward can find the help and support they need during difficult times.

This can include:

• Buying and delivering essential food and household supplies incl pet foods
• Prescription collections and other trips to GP surgeries/medical centres
• Dog walking
• Purchase of essential business supplies
• Purchase of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and healthcare goods

As time goes on, many people are struggling to work out how best to pay for the items and services they need in a way that is safe for them and the person helping them.

This fund has been set up so that no one has to go without the things they need or be out of pocket when they care for their neighbours.

How we will determine the urgency of need:

1. Immediately facing serious consequences.
2. "I could wait a week".
3. Within the next month.

If at the end of the epidemic there are any unused funds, we will create a community poll with several options on where the remainder will go.

This fund is administered by three Admins, and this group of trustees might grow over time. The current Admins are:

Rebecca Beaton
Vicky Haines
Emma Abbott

Admins will approve expenses according the Expenses Policy. Discretion can be exercised in unusual or unexpected circumstances.

Please do not hesitate to message or get in touch if you need any assistance or have a question.

Thank you for being a great neighbour. Together we are a stronger community.
