About:
We look forward to hearing from Dr. Jennifer Schulz, Project Lead of the collaborative project Urban Forest Gardens (Urbane Waldgärten) at the Institute for Environmental Sciences & Geography, University of Potsdam:
  • Jennifer will present the "Urban forest gardens - combining urban forest benefits with urban gardening". The presentation will outline the concept of forest gardens and the multifunctional benefits that it might achieve in urban contexts. Insights from implementation in two model projects will be given, including the search for suitable sites, participatory planning, implementation and perspectives on community management.
  • Furthermore, we look forward to hearing from Mariateresa Montisci, Trainee at the European Forest Institute:
  • Mariateresa will present "The Uforest Alliance: Innovation and collaboration in urban forestry for a greener future". The Uforest Project (European Alliance on Interdisciplinary Learning and Business Innovation for Urban Forests Project) is a three-year Knowledge Alliance project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission.
The project promotes a cross-sectoral alliance which aim to connect people interested in urban forestry that comes from often disconnected disciplines such as urban planning and architecture, forestry and ecology, socio-economic sciences and information and communication technologies (ICT). Moreover, the Uforest project wants to support innovation and stimulate entrepreneurship by providing tailored learning materials and delivering a new approach to urban forests.
