About
Decentralized organization, cooperation at scale and collective intelligence are frontiers challenging humanity. EIES research at NJIT led by EFF Pioneers Murray Turoff and Star Roxanne Hiltz 1970s and 80s was innovation way ahead of its time (presentation). Their 1978 book, The Network Nation, preceded the on-line communications revolution. The visions of a next generation EIES, decentralized EIES2 and TEIES SGML links and forms preceded HTML. Our contribution to Group Communications standards at CERN has been recognized here and w3c contribution to the early web here.
Rho Vision is an ideal formal communicating process environment allowing bio-mimicry and organic organizations and collective intelligence.
Research into online group systems and collective intelligence (video) at NJIT. RGOV seeks to realize the culmination of over 25+ years’ research at NJIT, humanity’s lessons since, and enabling what's next. RGov developers include some of the first World Wide Web visionaries combined with alumni from the largely forgotten EIES/CCCC.
RGOV has a prototype developer interface for rholang beginners rgov.rhobot.net supporting standardized components, basic identity, groups, chat/discussion, voting on issues and ballots with superfluid democracy and primitive trust networking demonstrated and almost working. Rank ordering, assessments, decision tables, multi stakeholder processes etc. are planned. It is fully transparent in that users can see exactly what contracts are being executed with their signature on rchain. Keeping components on-chain has been demonstrated and save functionality is planned for user, group and community component directories. We have skeletons of work group contracts for multisig, crowdfunding, and staking pools. diglife.consider.it is a functional model of participatory inquiry to be tried in rgov improving on an eies1 pros and cons prototype.
Eies3 can be a realization of the eies2 and teies requirements.

NJIT Decentralized EIES2 Concurrent Smalltalk pure objects with lazy execution and remote objects may be emulated readily in rholang conceptually and finally with a translator. Unlike rchain eies2 object references were forgeable and eies2 required a trusted network environment. A major innovation of rholang on rchain is that decentralized objects run in a trustless environment in a trustworthy manner. Rholang also can map directly to relations/functions and formal Actors.
MacRhoBot corresponds to user programmability in Interact on EIES and what we called the output editor in eies, it facilitated mixing code with text in a data code equivalence and in rholang reflectivity. It allowed the evolution of groupware with user defined commands promoted to group commands and then global commands. Rhobot context may be the user, channel or server.
EIES innovated the +mypriv command that allowed using the code owners permission when executed the user. This gave the author the ability or selectively expose his capabilities to others. It allows for delegation and cooperation. It facilitation the development of groupware that extended their eies capabilities to other users by enabling object capability security which is natively enforced in rholang.
Rhobot macros may processed conditionally by the user or group agent in the browser and on the users cloud. In EIES @(code...) was executed at display time. rhobot is innovating markdown definitions executed conditionally (#define, #input, #mypriv, #eval: #explore, #deploy, ...) Ultimately it can be programmed in any convertible language of choice, allowing programming in language of choice and rendering code in any language in your language of choice. Ultimately voice/text macros like "#grant tony admin capability in issue 20" can readily generate rholang.
Our hope is to continue eies research and trials of group decision support in the development of collectively intelligent action at scale.
