About

FOSS RIT has established itself as a national leader in open source education, significantly impacting both students and the broader FOSS community. Since 2009, we have provided unparalleled opportunities for students to engage with open source through our unique minor, LibreCorps program, and partnerships with organizations like UNICEF. Our students actively contribute to humanitarian, community, and educational projects, gaining invaluable experience and making a tangible difference. Our presence at conferences like OSCON and PyCon US, along with local events like Rochester Maker Faire and Imagine RIT, demonstrates our commitment to community engagement and knowledge sharing. The "Future is Open" conference, formerly organized by FOSS RIT, served as a significant platform to highlight the contributions of our students, faculty, and alumni to the open source ecosystem.
