UPDATE: Changes coming for SBMACC donors
Published on March 22, 2024 by Maggie Clarke
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to give a heads-up to those who've set up recurring donations to SBMACC, and share a brief financial update with you all.
First off, a huge thank you to our wonderful supporters! We understand the urgency for funds in all directions at this time, and we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the vital role your support plays in making our work possible. Thank you so much! Without the support of this community we would not be able to meet our neighbors with life saving material support. In just the last year your funds have gone towards:
- Weekly pet food for our furry friends at camp
- Life saving medicine for camp residents
- Over 45 tents replaced!
- Hundreds of meals for our camp residents
- Weekly hygiene supplies including menstrual care, dental care, and wipes
- Supporting residents through hospital stays, doctor visits, and navigating employment
- So, so, so much more!
As some of you may know, our current fiscal sponsor, Open Collective Foundation, is dissolving. This has been one of our most essential tools for fundraising over the last couple of years. You can read more details about this decision here: https://opencollective.com/foundation/updates/announcement-we-are-dissolving-open-collective-foundation-at-the-end-of-this-year.
Although this decision is beyond our control, we're prepared! Here's what it entails for both SBMACC and you:
- Effective March 15, 2024, we will no longer accept donations via our current Open Collective Foundation link.
- Consequently, any donations made after March 15, 2024, will not be processed without any action required from your end.
- We will still have access to the funds we have already raised as long as we spend them by the end of the year (this will be very easy for use to do 🙂)
- We are in the process of transitioning to a new fiscal sponsor, Hack Club! Once our new fiscal sponsorship is established we hope you’ll consider continuing to support our work there. Instructions for donating through Hack Club will be coming soon!
