Our grassroots under 8's football club is based in a small village called Sleights just outside of Whitby where the majority of our team are from.  All of the teams in Whitby were full to capacity so in an attempt to ensure more children had access to play at league level we established our own team.  To enable us to do this we needed to secure sponsorship and other forms of funding such as fundraising events and donations.  We were fortunate enough to secure a match ball sponsor (Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society) and have held two fundraising events which have not only raised money for the club but also brought the community together.  Such events mean that the children have the opportunity to meet new people, build a sense of community and know what is to work as part of a team.
