About

Public discourse is broken.

The failure to arrive at a shared and informed understanding of reality is a major reason for society's failure to make progress on its biggest problems, such as climate change. Failure to coordinate on belief leads to failure to coordinate on action. This was a problem before the Internet, but social media is making it worse.

Our big idea is that the algorithm itself can incentivize accurate, honest, and intelligent online conversations, all while improving engagement. For example, mechanisms from the game-theory literature can be used to create an equilibrium around honesty. And the matrix-factorization algorithm used by Community Notes on X can be used to address bias and discover common ground.

You can read more about our ideas for improving social algorithms and protocols at social-protocols.org.

We are currently using a prototype social platform called Jabble to test and improve our algorithm. Sign up here to be notified when we launch.
