About

Stepping Stones for Transformational Leadership

The Stepping Stones project seeks to empower leaders to experience healing as an asset and discover the impact it might have within themselves, their communities and greater society. The project introduces resilience skills and processes to enable leaders to mobilise their communities with innovative, appealing and challenge based measures to foster wellbeing  and healing both on individual and the collective levels. The project is based on a holistic learning model that combines neuro-linquistic learning progression impact on change with embodiment practices, peer-based and individual coaching, and cohort experiences to elevate collective awareness in all three human dimensions - the intellectual, physical and incorporeal (which some define as spiritual or missional).

We aim to equip leaders with limited healing and wellbeing experience with knowledge, techniques and competences to examine patterns, both immediate and historical, that are impacting the connectedness and wellbeing in their cultures and communities.

The overall aim of Stepping Stones incorporates four key dimensions:

    • Individual Healing & Wellbeing: Raising awareness of leaders about healing and wellbeing practices and support the development of their idiosyncratic methodology to address key issues.
    • Collective Healing & Wellbeing: Develop competences of leaders with a focus to shift paradigms and practices around healing, belonging, social justice, systemic and cultural oppression and collaboration.
    • Activation: Empower leaders to use created tools in their environments and a collective project, serving as a model to others.
    • Advocacy: Equip leaders who enable a change of mind set in their community towards the impact of oppression and healing; encourage more fulfilled and just living; influence policies that uphold holistic prevention, identification, resolution and contribution towards more aware and equitable practices within their immediate communities, their spheres of influence and society at large.

Benefits
Overcoming internal, cultural and societal challenges requires an alteration in leadership’s awareness and how they perceive culture.  Leaders who recognise the value of an equitable, healthy and engaged culture are more likely to invest in policies, programs and initiatives that not only promote healing and well-being but also normalise conversations about the impact of healing within their culture and discern if their  actions, policies, and initiatives contribute to a more accepting and supportive society and beyond.

List of benefits includes:

    • Reduced stress which can ultimately lead to lower rates of burnout, absenteeism, and turnover, as leaders are better equipped to handle the demands of their roles
    • Enhanced Productivity when people feel well-supported.
    • Increased loyalty which can lead to longer tenures and a stronger sense of commitment to the collective mission and goals.
    • Positive cultures can encourage collaboration, open communication, and a sense of community, which can improve relationships and teamwork.
    • People are less likely to require medical treatment and time off due to illnesses.
    • Practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation can stimulate creativity and innovative thinking.
    • Reduced interpersonal conflict and tension.
    •  Being recognised for being a responsible and caring culture can improve brand perception and loyalty and attract top talent.
    • Long-term sustainability increases due to a well adjusted and motivated culture where more likely to contribute positively to the collective growth and success over time.
    • Personal growth and development can empower ownership, leading to increased satisfaction and advancement.

Possible Beneficiaries
Stepping Stones was designed for leaders and future leaders who are both experiencing and holding  oppressive paradigms simultaneously, whether consciously or unconsciously, but desire to understand the impact it has on their wellbeing, relationships, work, community and society.

These are people who are working within organisations and desire organisational change. They may be people in management positions, human resources, C-suite level, entrepreneurs, leading teams or allies who are interested in:

  • Social justice
  • Community development
  • Change management
  • Systems change
  • Facilitating cultures of belonging

Evaluation Process

We consider it highly relevant to include a process of internal Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) to track the delivery and the effectiveness of our learning journeys. The data and internal monitoring will support an internal evaluation exercise and eventually provide proof of concept.

Our evaluation process is based on five levels or dimensions:

    • Level 1: BACKGROUND / FIRST REACTIONS TO THE TRAINING & LEARNING EXPERIENCE;
    • Level 2: LEARNING PROCESS (Level of initial Outcomes and Engagement);
    • Level 3: BEHAVIOUR (Outcomes);
    • Level 4: RESULTS (Outcomes);
    • Level 5: SUSTAINABILITY OF RESULTS (Identification and analysis of subsequent actions/synergies/processes linked to organisational performance that can guarantee or contribute to sustainable social, organisational or institutional changes as a result of the learning & capacity development).

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Through the process of the training, we will identify participants who might serve as potential facilitators and coaches of Stepping Stones in the future.  These candidates would be equipped with our methodologies and curriculum along with an internship to gain practical experience working with our team and participants of Stepping Stones. The aim is to form a network of leaders who have not only mastered and practice the Stepping Stones, but also become teachers to/for others to do the same in their sphere of influence.

For those wanting to deepen their understanding of healing world work, we can recommend additional training that would build on their Stepping Stone progress.  We have relationships with Healing Histories, Process Work Institute and Flourishing Agenda certification programs which are ideal next steps to the foundation work of Stepping Stones.
