The White Party: A afternoon of Diversity and Rhythm in Wellington!
Dear Music Enthusiasts and Wellingtonians,
Why Support This Event? Here's the Beat of the Matter:
In the heart of Wellington, we're witnessing a shift in the rhythm of the entertainment district, and we need your support to turn up the volume on diversity, authenticity, and passion!
Drowning in Monotony: Have you noticed the sameness echoing through every bar in Wellington's entertainment scene? The lack of diversity and the fading vibrancy that once defined Diversity Wellington is a concern we all share. The cost of keeping things running, especially post-Covid, has led many to stick with the familiar, rather than taking the risk to revive the rich tapestry of sounds and cultures that once resonated through our city.
Center Stage for Blackhouse Presents: The White Party
Our young African and Caribbean DJs and artists are a powerhouse of talent, yet their voices and beats are often drowned out in the mainstream. Its time to showcase the music they love, & the music that resonates from Africa to the Caribbean. It's time to break the cycle and give them the stage they deserve.
Beyond Free Performances: How many times have you heard that artists and DJs, especially from our African and Caribbean community, perform for free? It's disheartening, and it's not right. Yet Many of our artists & DJ's are punching well above their weight class in the NZ music scene, and they deserve more than just applause.
Enter The Blackhouse: We present to you an event that not only acknowledges the talent but respects it. The Blackhouse is committed to paying our DJs based on the tickets and door takings.
It's about real remuneration, genuine respect, and a commitment to recognizing the hard work these artists put in during the event to entertain all of us. So even if you don't think you can attend in person, we will appreciate your support for our project, by buying a ticket.
Why Support? Because Together, We Change the Beat!
 Event Details:
 Date: Sunday 26th November 2023
 Time: 2pm - 9pm
Join us for a day where the beats are diverse, the talent is genuine, and the passion is contagious. #balconymixvibe
Let's make Wellington's entertainment scene resonate with the true rhythm of diversity!
See you at our very first all "The White Party" – where the pulse of our city meets the heartbeat of global music.
Please Come and Enjoy!!
The The BlackHouse

This event was run solely by The Blackhouse as an addon to the Festival activity run by DJ Orikol & the Blackhouse.
The Blackhouse organised this event from beginning to end. Liya oversaw organising performers. working with the venue owners, security and staff.  Coordinating sound checks with DJs, coordinating with SA Embassy for SA decorations in the venue, having a SA Flag & coordinating with them to get the word out to the South African community that we were celebrating not only an Afrika Bazaar but also the Banyana Banyana team being in Wellington for the Womens FIFA games.
On our Blackhouse YT Channel, our video footage Liya Lupala filmed at the Wellington Powhiri for Banyana Banyana is the most watched video on the Blackhouse YT channel to date,  viewed around the world. The Blackhouse organised how the event would run from start to finish and how we could negotiate the minimum spend costs for the venue. This was a very successful first event as a Blackhouse collective [Please do not remove].
