Updates for 2023
Published on January 6, 2023 by alycia kamil moaton

Hey community!

Dropping by to give some updates on the work we’ve been up to and what these next few months are going to look like.

Since the summer we’ve been doing a myriad of mutual aid services thanks to a grant provided by @crossroadsfund

From distributing dozens of art & book kits , providing emergency funds for transportation & utilities , buying groceries for families , purchasing items off of nursery wish lists , working with other orgs to further their efforts, etc. It’s been a packed couple of months.

Kicking off the Radical Essentials for the Youth initiative was a great achievement, it’s something we’ve been wanting to see blossom for some years and it’s finally coming to fruition.

We’re nearing the end of grant, and want to take these next 2-3 months to grant write and raise funds to continue our mutual aid efforts. In the meantime we’ll be focusing more on our radical education program. Putting out more workshops, content, and bringing back what started it all, our podcast!

For transparency, the remainder of the grant will be used to continue our emergency funds distribution (paying for gas, buying bus cards, paying utilities, etc) But until we can secure enough funds to properly conduct the initiative we’ll be taking a small pause on our art and book kits distribution.

We’ll still be taking book donations and new art supplies as well. If you have some books that are new and/or gently used that you’re ready to pass on to the next person, send us a dm! If you’re sitting on some art supplies you haven’t opened up considering donating them so we can pass them on to a young artist.

Be on the lookout for more updates, and ways to get involved. We’re very appreciative of all the support that’s been shown so far, it’s a driving force to keep this working going. We’re excited to dive back into more avenues of our platform.

Make sure you have us on socials because we’ll be doing most of our content creation through those apps!
