About

Who We Are:
Our mission at Ayudantes De La Tierra is to cultivate a more just and equitable society for farm workers and their families in the Salinas Valley. We envision a future in which these hardworking individuals and families are able to thrive and advocate for their own well-being and dignity, and in which they are able to reap the fruits of their labor. We are committed to working towards this goal, and to sowing the seeds of positive change for all members of the community.

Beginning in the dual-crisis (Covid-19 & fires) summer of 2020, we have been providing direct support to farmworker communities in the Salinas Valley through brokering and resource delivery, advocacy and education. We focus on intentional, collaborative support that meets the specific needs identified by community members. In addition to mutual aid support, we host community day donation drives, and strive to connect community members to additional resources. We hope to address broader systemic issues such as access to clean water and fair affordable housing. We additionally work to raise awareness about the marginalization of this community and the challenges they face.

Theory of Change:

Our Strategies and Methods:

  • Community outreach & engagement
    • Community day donation drives
  • Strategic partnerships with organizations like the San Jose Earthquakes
  • Program evaluation
  • Needs Surveys and Assessments
  • Fundraising, grant-writing and project development
  • Advocacy & policy reform
  • Personal theoretical concept on a foundation of strengths based support
  • Ethical storytelling
