About

Invitation

The Freedom to Learn Forum is a gathering where young people’s voices, needs, and dreams are at the centre. We are co-creating a living learning ecosystem intergenerationally; a dynamic space to imagine, experiment, and play. We will explore the big and small ideas and the everyday and deep questions of these times, in ways that honour our interconnectedness with the wider web of life.

The Forum 2025 will be the most co-created gathering yet. Anyone can propose an event, workshop, or activity. Our community life and agreements are made together so that all who come can bring as much of themselves as they wish, sharing their gifts in ways that work best for them.

A highlight this year is the wonderful offer of lovingly cooked home style Palestinian food by friend of the forum Saleh, which will be supporting the fundraiser for his family in Gaza.

Another theme will be tending to Freedom to Learn’s evolution into a more self-sustaining community, exploring how moving towards a gift economy culture could support that, and what this means for our shared path and values.

We come with different histories and experiences that inform how we arrive here. We know that many systems of oppression shape our access to learning in ways that matter to us, freedom to explore and grow, and connection to the rest of nature. We also recognise that practical or cultural aspects - including camping or other participation requirements - can make it harder for some, and we invite you to get in touch to discuss ways to make it possible for you. We especially welcome the voices, ideas, and ways of being of those whose voices are too often marginalised - including but not limited to Global Majority, disabled, LGBTQIA+, and working-class communities.

This is just a beginning; the conversation about access, participation, lived experience, diversity and co-creation  will continue in the gatherings of the Forum and beyond as we notice and respond to the barriers and opportunities we encounter together.

Through shared presence, authentic connection, joy, curiosity and wonder we hope to strengthen our relationships and grow the roots for real change.
