I Am We Are Collective

I Am We Are is a global collective of creative practitioners who explore together the questions of our times, through reflection and sense making practices, creative acts, rituals and rites of passage, gathering and participatory work. We are connected through shared impulses to make things together, and be in meaningful relationship with ourselves, each other and the wider ecology of life.

Since 2020 and COVID, we, a number of UK based and international collaborators have developed a community of practice and creativity around the skills and processes we need for the future we face.

Jamie Colston is the founding energy of this collective work and together with the team you see here and with the historical members, we continue to reflect on past explorations of developing organisations, structures and working collective relationships which have failed. We are in inquiry and next iteration of how you cultivate an ongoing community of practice, project development and multidisciplinary artistic work with the minimal level of structure. Including best practice, self and relationally organised governance and financial and collaborative openness and integrity.

As part of the process, we have found a flexible form in this journey with Open Collective and the Social Change Nest:

Open Collective is a legal and financial toolbox for grassroots groups. It’s a fundraising + legal status + money management digital platform for community groups.

Social Change Nest: Through UK based fiscal hosting they offer secure and transparent money and grant management for foundations, groups, movements and networks in the UK and abroad.

The purpose of our work is to cultivate generative relationships and communal practices, that allow us all to grow our imagination, hope and action, that enable us to live today and be in the movement of creating a world for 7 generations yet to come. 

Our goal with this work is to attract funding and financial support to resource 7-21 year cycles of generative and emergent culture(s) work. Our collective work is value based, imagination orientated, curiosity led and grounded in the skills and practices that are ecological, spiritual, action research orientated, embodied and phenomenological.
