iPlug2 App Audio I/O

PROJECT

Fix standalone app audio i/o issues

About

iPlug2 is a free, open-source audio C++ plug-in/app framework. It is the result of many years of hard work and dedication, and it allows developers to release free/open source/cheap plug-ins since they can just focus on being creative with their product designs and DSP code. Recently it has been used in the awesome, smash hit plug-in Neural Amp Modeller (NAM). This massive surge in iPlug2 users means bugs have been found, particularly in the standalone app version which can cause some friction for new NAM users, and even provoking some YouTubers to hate on it. The iPlug2 devs would love to fix/improve these things, but have many other priorities including their own day jobs and projects - but if there is suitable funding can prioritise this. This is a fundraiser/bounty to fund improving the standalone app target in iPlug2, specifically to address the following issues:

  1. Fix selection of Audio I/O, as shown here: https://github.com/sdatkinson/NeuralAmpModelerPlugin/issues/157
  2. Fix unicode characters in Audio I/O, as shown here:
    https://github.com/sdatkinson/NeuralAmpModelerPlugin/issues/196
  3. Make APP Audio I/O more flexible, e.g. support multi-channel I/O
  4. Debug locking up of audio preferences with different audio interfaces
  5. Rework iPlug2 IPlugApp code to support command line or GUI operation
  6. Improve the look and flexibility of the default Audio/Midi preferences
  7. Make App Audio/Midi preferences customizable i.e. not only available via win32 controls/SWELL. It would be nice to be able to use IGraphics, or a WebView to customise this panel
